How Carvan is governed

Carvan is structured for scalable, country-by-country expansion across Africa. This page outlines leadership roles, decision authority, and operating principles that keep operations trusted and bank‑aligned.

Important: Carvan does not provide loans. Final credit decisions remain with partner banks.

Corporate Structure

  • Parent brand: carvan.africa — investors, governance, strategy, expansion
  • Country platforms: e.g., carvanug.com — local operations and revenue
  • IP ownership: platform code + brand assets owned by the parent company
  • Scalable playbook: Country Director + Dealer Network + Bank Partner + Revenue Engine
This keeps the parent brand investor‑grade while local domains run execution.

Leadership

  • Founder & Group CEO: Jonathan Ndakola
  • Country Operations: Director/COO per market (Uganda and future countries)
  • Dealer partners: verified vendors (not executives)
  • Bank partners: funding decisions remain with the bank
CEO owns strategy, product, brand, and global partnerships. Country Ops owns execution.

Decision Authority

  • CEO approval required: equity, binding contracts, fundraising terms, IP licensing
  • Country Ops may approve: dealer onboarding (per policy), verification workflows, local meetings
  • Dealers cannot: approve their own verification, view buyer financial docs, change financed deals without review

Operating Principles

  • Trust first: verification + documentation drive conversion
  • Structure wins: standardized listings, documents, and bank packages
  • Privacy by default: least‑privilege access model
  • Quality & compliance: fewer verified partners beats unlimited listings

Policies (High‑Level)

  • Dealer Verification: identity, location, documentation, ongoing review
  • Listing Standards: photo minimums, VIN/chassis requirements, truthful disclosure
  • Anti‑Fraud: duplicate VIN checks, suspicious price flags, escalation workflow
  • Application Integrity: incomplete applications are not submitted to banks
  • Conflict of Interest: no bypassing the platform using Carvan leads/data
